Topic: calcium

What is the good source of calcium? Instead of eating calcium pills, can I eat a small amount of  "chuna" (which is used in pan) everyday, to get my calcium requirement of everyday? I have read somewhere that limestone is a good source of calcium. Is chuna  a purified form of limestone?

You cannot just go on eating calcium compounds like limestone or 'chuna' i.e. lime to fulfill calcium requirement of your body. It needs vitamin D for effective absorption of calcium in the body. (In fact, overdose of such calcium compounds may lead to other health complications.)

It is better that you consult a doctor or qualified nutrition expert for this.
